RULES

ROUTE 666
RULES

1. Don’t be a jerk.
That’s the top rule of all. You don’t have to get along with everyone, but you do need a basic level of civility. Treat people with the same level of courtesy and respect you’d like to receive. Above all avoid having your fun at the expense of other people.

This includes behaviors like: ship pushing, ignoring people’s boundaries and permissions, info-moding/godmoding/fourth walling without permission for the other players, not marking your NSFW stuff or bringing it onto SFW spaces, being exceptionally argumentative/not taking no for an answer, etc. When in doubt, ask yourself “how much is this going to upset the person on the other side of the screen?” and adjust from there.

Finally, the mods reserve the right to kick people if they are being a constant stress source for the overall game. Ditto with declining people and characters who aren’t a good fit for the game. Just try to be chill, folks.

2. Please understand the tone and feel of the game.
This is a spooky road trip game about turning into monsters. Characters should be able to play well in this setting, and hopefully players are on board for weird fantasy, transformations, and traveling around a haunted world.

To go into detail on the key features of Route 666:
  • Monsters: Your character will be fighting monsters, and is afflicted with a monster form of their own. We want you to have a lot of customization with your character's monster form in both choice, traits, how those changes manifest, and whether those changes ebb and flow. But no matter what, monsters will be a key component of the game.

  • Road Trip: The Convoy is the home base for all characters, and is a giant road train made up of trucks and trailers. It will frequently be on the move (though some game events will halt it in place for a time!) and will travel across different parts of the world and visit many different regions. Your character will also have access to a vehicle to drive around and visit different locations, though the Convoy will ultimately be the safest haven in a strange world.

  • Haunted World: The world of Revan is a strange, broken place. Some sort of calamity has visited the world, turned the inhabitants into metallic Husks or monsters, and twisted the surrounding scenery. Weird and spooky stuff will happen to the setting during events!

  • 3. Observe Good RP Behavior.
We ask our players to have a good divide between In-Character and Out of Character. Know when to check emotions at the RP door, and realize that interactions IC are not a reflection of OOC views and vice-versa. Also realize that IC actions have IC consequences: whether that's being a jerk, violent, or knocking things off counters, there will be some form of accountability for your character!

Also (and perhaps most importantly) we ask you to be good at communicating your preferences and plans for RP out of character. Please be honest about what you want and where your boundaries are, and respect those same things from other people.

    4. Be active.
We need 5 comments from you in a month, from one thread and recorded on the AC Master Post. And if you’re extra active, there’s a reward system for that.

If you need to take a hiatus, the hiatus form is ready and available for you to use. Please note that you may take a hiatus of up to one month.

    5. Tag your posts.
If there’s upsetting stuff, put it in the warning categories! We ask that you warn for the following if it comes up: graphic violence (like you'd see in an M rated game) self-harm/suicide, abuse, or NSFW/Sexual content. If you want to have sexytimes, just warn/inform that too and have the characters be 18 or older. You can also lock NSFW logs to the comm if you’re more comfortable about that. No worries, you can still count it towards AC or rewards.

We also ask that players avoid role-playing sexual assault plotlines, incest, and explicit underage stuff. (That is characters are under 18!) If surviving rape, and dealing with incest and underage stuff are aspects of a character's backstory then fair enough, but we ask to avoid directly threading them out on the comms.

    6. Don’t contact the mod’s personal accounts for game-wide suggestions, questions, etc.
Please use the Game FAQ, [plurk.com profile] monstertruckers on plurk, and mod contact posts; sometimes we just want to play in the game. Or play video games or watch goofy shows to decompress, and need our space respected!

As a general rule of thumb: a month after the official game opening the FAQ will be checked on Friday evening MST and answered over the weekend. And with each event log a corresponding plurk and OOC post will go up as well, where event specific questions can be asked and answered. Apps will be mass processed at the end of the app cycle. For other forms of contact, there is the mod contact post, and plot suggestion post, which are also answered at the end of the week. These will generally be our office hours.

    7. Before bringing issues to the mods, please discuss the problem with the other players involved.
We'd like everyone to give a shot at communicating their issues and preferences, to see if things can be worked out between players.

Exceptions are for serious issues like stalking, harassment, bigotry, abusive behavior, etc: feel free to go directly to the mods in that case. Also please have signed receipts of the problem behavior. Screencaps, plurk paste bins, etc. We apologize in advance, but we can’t accept anon comm threads and posts as receipts of bad behavior.

If we receive reports of serious behavior (examples: a player is being a full on bigot with slurs and hate speech, is crossing player boundaries despite repeatedly being told no, is harassing a player into doing what they want, etc.) we will look into it ASAP; but please understand we also want to make a thorough investigation before making a decision.
